SPORTS:

 

Football Results: Last night the UTMS football team traveled to Griffith and lost to the Panthers 22 – 14. The offense was led by Edwin Hernandez with a touchdown run. Jackson Koroluk caught a 50 yard touchdown pass from Dawson McGuckin. The defense was led by Edwin Hernandez, Anthony Getty, Troy Ribar, Hayden Price, Mark Budzevski and Max Mortimer. David “The Tank” Horgash had a 1 yard kickoff return. In the 5th quarter, Justin Wiggins had a 5 yard touchdown run. The Bearcats next game is Tuesday September 12 at home against Whiting. Game time is 5:30 pm.

 

Volleyball Results: The 7th and 8th grade A teams beat Hobart in their season opener! Great job, Lady Bearcats!

 

Track & Field Conditioning: There will be track & field conditioning in the WHS field house today from 3:30-5 pm, for those people not involved in a fall sport.  The condition will consist of agility drills and speed development. A lot of fun drills!!

 

Team Photos: Team photos for football, volleyball, and cross-country will be next Thursday, Sept. 14

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

Robotics Club: Would you like to learn about robotics? There will be a call-out meeting for the Robotics Club today immediately after school until 3:30 p.m. It will be held in room 906, Mr. Murray’s room.

 

Photography Club will meet tomorrow during lunch in Mr. Spoor’s room

 

Yearbook Members going on the field trip later this month must turn in their permission slip and money to Ms. Lucas by this Friday.

 

Hurricane Harvey: Do you want to help those that have lost so much in Hurricane Harvey?  Student Council is sponsoring a collection to help all those in need.  The teacher from each grade level that collects the most $$$ in their jar will wear a silly costume to help the cause.  Get in the spirit of giving and have some fun as we help others.  Bring in your donations on Thurs. & Fri. this week and place it in the jar in the teacher's room you most want to see dressed in a silly costume. We will inform everyone who collected the most $$$ on Monday and your favorite teachers can wear their silly costume on Tues., Sept. 12th.  

 

Remember: Be a buddy, not a bully. So be respectful, be responsible, and be your best!

 

The Pillar of Character for today: Caring. Help people in need. If you take part in the Hurricane Harvey fundraiser you will be showing that you care.
