ATHLETICS:

BOYS BASKETBALL

On a roller coaster kind of day, the 8th graders edged out the host Highlanders in the first game of the Highland Tournament in a thriller 31-30.  With Justin Sims in foul trouble throughout the game, the Bearcats stepped up in true team fashion to clinch the victory.  River Halsey and Justin led the scoring with 24, while teammates Mark Johnson, Noah Monahan, and Blake Handley completed the scoring.  The Windex Crew of Noah, Mark, and Justin cleaned the glass for the Bearcats.  Noah, Brady Rife, Blake, and Jax Smith were dominate defenders.

On the downside, was a loss of 33-37 in the championship game at the hands of the Griffith Panthers.  Justin Sims led the way with 22 points while Mark Johnson chipped in with 6 and River Halsey with 5.  Jax Smith and Noah Monahan continue to lead the team in physical post defense.  The bench was instrumental in urging its teammates to the best two games, in the coach's recollection, of boxing out opponents - at any level - really awesome display!!  In a post game text, the Highland varsity coach expressed that he was very impressed by how hard our Bearcats played.  Way to make us proud, gentlemen!

This week the boys will face two very tough opponents in Chesterton and Lake Ridge.  Stay tuned!

LET'S GO, BEARCATS!
