Congrats to the 7th and 8th grade for both winning the GSSC championships over Christmas Break! This was a 3-peat for the 8th grade and the 7th is following suit with back to back championships! Congrats to all the middle school basketball teams this year!
The 6th grade girls basketball will begin practice on 1/13 at 3:45 until 5:30 in the Fieldhouse.
Middle school wrestling will also begin their practices on 1/13 as well. They will practice from 3:45 until 6 pm. All athletes should have their physical completed by the start of their first practice.
All three of our middle school teams won their play-in games last night. Here is the run down for the tournaments tomorrow:
6th grade will play Griffith at Griffith at 9 am.
7th grade will play River Forest at River Forest at 9 am.
8th grade will play Lake Ridge at Lake Ridge at 9 am.
When we win those games the championship game will be played roughly at 11 am.

Last night closed out our home games for the middle school boy's season. We capped that off with a 6th grade win over River Forest, which came down to the final seconds. The middle school boys are now gearing up for the conference tourney which starts Thursday. The 6th grade will be at River Forest at 5pm and the 7/8th grade teams will be at Lake Station also starting at 5pm. Good luck Bearcats!
Directed by Mr. Miller, our UTMS band students did an excellent job at the annual Winter Concert. The holiday spirit was alive as they played festive songs that brought smiles to everyone’s faces. Their hard work and practice paid off, and the audience loved every minute. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season together! Go Bearcats!!
Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys’ basketball teams hit the court again last night! The 7th grade boys brought home a victory, while the 6th and 8th grade teams played hard, kept their heads high, and made UTMS proud. A big shoutout to our cheerleaders for bringing the energy and keeping our fans cheering loud and proud!
This week, Mr. Harnew led a group of our 8th-grade students to Indianapolis for the We the People State Competition. They represented UTMS with pride, showcasing their knowledge and hard work. Congratulations on a tremendous job, Bearcats! We are so proud of you!
Last night all three teams were in action vs Lake Station. Both the 6th and 7th grade teams came out victorious. The 8th grade team fell just short after coming all the back after being down 20 points. The cheer team was a major factor all night long for both teams! All three teams are back in action on Thursday as 7/8th grade are here at home and 6th grade is on the road against Griffith.
Our UTMS Choir did an amazing job tonight sharing their Christmas songs and spreading holiday cheer. The festive spirit was alive and well thanks to their beautiful performance. A big thank you to Ms. Prisby for guiding our choir and making this evening so special. What a wonderful way to celebrate the season!
Tonight's 7/8th grade boys basketball game at River Forest will be played in the HS gym. We are asked to enter through Door C which is located in the back of the school.
There will be a boy's soccer meeting for 6th-11th graders on Wednesday, December 18th, at 3pm in the high school library.

Last night our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys basketball teams came out with impressive wins against Lake Ridge. The cheer team kept the fans in the game all night long! The Bearcats are back in action for 7/8th grade tomorrow on the road at Ben Franklin MS!
Tonight's middle school games vs Lake Ridge have been cancelled. This includes 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams. All three teams will not have practice tonight and will go home after school.
Mr. Harnew took our 8th-grade We the People teams to the regional competition today, and our students did an incredible job! They walked away as Runner-Ups, and we are so proud of them all! Their hard work, preparation, and teamwork truly shined through. Thank you, Mr. Harnew, for your dedication and leadership in guiding our students to success.
Last night we tipped off our basketball season at UTMS! Our cheer team did an amazing job keeping the fans and players pumped all night long. Our 7th grade team came out with a dominate win over Westville. Our 8th grade team came up short in very tough and exciting game that had many lead changes which came down to the final shot. Well done by all our athletes and thanks to all the fans that came out last night. Go Bearcats!
